The Veterinary Medicine & Agricultural Sciences interdepartmental degree program in Animal Science trains chain technicians with expertise in the management of zootechnical systems and related food industries. Particular attention is dedicated to animal welfare and the use of sustainable farming techniques. The training program provides a gradual approach to the acquisition of scientific, cultural, technical and methodological knowledge in the field of animal productions and related activities.

Graduates in Animal Science are prepared to operate as consultants or staff members in the fields of:
- organizations dealing with land management, technical assistance and genealogical books, such as national, regional and provincial associations of breeders, ministries and regional development agencies, mountain communities, park authorities;
- cooperative structures, product consortia, and processing industries, management and control of animal origin food processing, supervision, assistance and control of food safety, qualitative and quantitative improvement of animal production as well as assistance and laboratory verification of the quality of products of animal origin and those derived from the processing;
- professional organizations;
- professional offices;
- private industrial companies linked to animal husbandry (feedstuffs, integrators, mechanics).
 
To be admitted, the student must be in possession of a secondary school diploma and have adequate preparation in primary subjects, such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Competency is verified using a test, aimed at identifying possible student inadequacies: failing to pass the test is not determining to enrollment.

The training program includes lectures, seminars, laboratory practice, study visits, internships, and stages. Moreover, it is possible to personalize the degree program with electives, and the study of a foreign language.

During the study program, it will be possible to attend a 3 to 12 month-period abroad. In fact, numerous bilateral agreements with European and extra-European university partners have been signed, providing students with mobility opportunities such as ERASMUS and other exchange programs.
